About Kingfisher Cove |
| Kingfisher Cove is a 3.5 acre private oceanfront property located on the north end of South Pender Island on Ainslie Point Road. Our property faces Bedwell Harbour and shares a border with Beaumont Marine Park which is now part of the Southern Gulf Islands National Park. The property is forested and very private. We have an excellent dock and moorage. Catch fresh crab off the dock!
The cottage is the only residence on the property and so you have all 3.5 acres to yourself! The main floor of the cottage is approximately 600 square feet and this year we have also opened the lower level up for guests and it is a similar size. There is also the sleeping loft of about 120 square feet and there are two very large decks, one off the lower level and one of the main level. There is a queen size bed in the sleeping loft and another in the lower level. The sofa on the main floor opens into a queen size fouton bed that is very comfortable. |

| Our cottage is solar powered but has an inverter and thus is regularly equipped with wall outlets, lights and other basic electrical equipment such as a vacuum, CD player/radio, etc. The gate house is connected to the grid and so it contains a freezer, fridge and hairdryer (these things being the biggest consumers of energy). At the cottage itself, we use a very large fisherman's cooler with large blocks of ice from the freezer and otherwise the kitchen is regularly equipped. A gas barbecue, dishes and cooking utensils, towels and linens are provided. The cooking stove is propane gas and there is also a wood stove for a cozy open fire as necessary in the autumn and winter. Fire restrictions apply in the summer, island wide, and by personal policy at our cabin. During spring, autumn and winter we provide the wood for your fire for short stay guests but if you are renting for a month or more, you will need to organize to have wood delivered for your use. The solar power is simple to run. The great news about our solar power system is that one is never without power unlike the rest of the island which experiences frequent outages especially during the winter, fall and spring. | ![]() |

There are many nearby hiking trails and beach accesses in addition to our own. Our property and waterfront area are frequented by hummingbirds (March until late July); eagles, great blue heron; mink; otter; seals; and many other birds and marine wildlife. During May to late October one can sit on the rocks at Gowland Point or at Brooks Point and watch for resident pods of Orcas who frequent Boundary Pass, Swanson Channel, etc. The Pender Islands have no squirrels, no skunks, no raccoons and no bears or cougar. Our summer sunsets are amazing and for those who love the night sky, this is as good as it gets!
